Webinar: Ungrading for Equity, Inclusion, and Success Online

“Ungrading” is a provocative concept that encompasses a wide spectrum of assessment and classroom policy design decisions. As Jesse Stommel put it, “‘Ungrading’ means raising an eyebrow at grades as a systemic practice, distinct from simply ‘not grading.’” In this presentation we’ll explore how grading policies relate to student equity, inclusion, and success, and unpack some ungrading theories, practices, and techniques. We’ll also look at the ways Canvas can support ungrading, and we’ll provide a bibliography of additional resources to dive more deeply into this emerging topic.
